Andreas Bender creates wines in the Mosel region of Germany and he is well known at KITCHEN. This forward thinking young winemaker will have you appreciate these uniquely styled German wines for the first time, or all over again.
Not only will you meet and talk with these two winemakers and sample their different styles of wines, but you’ll also enjoy an informal roof top patio setting in downtown Edmonton and great summer snacks cooked up by KITCHEN. Brad will be firing up the grill to showcase the incredible produce and goodies from the City Market Downtown on 104th Street.

We have a stall at the farmers’ market and we’re selling our rub, butter and bacon jam each and every Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. While we don’t have a wide range of products, what we do have is pretty unique. Can you say devil’s butter on ribeye steak from ACME Meat Market???

It’s no secret. Brad loves meatballs.
So every Friday (except on Canada Day on Friday, July 1) we celebrate meatballs at KITCHEN by Brad.
Each Friday, we make a different flavour of meatball and a different side dish. They are piping hot and ready for you to eat for lunch. There’s been Mexican meatballs, “beef dip” balls, meatballs made with Irving’s farm fresh pork, Rangeland bison, wagyu beef and more.
For $8.00, you get three just-prepared meatballs and our side dish of the day, which could be mashed potatoes, fried rice, roasted potatoes — who knows! You’re welcome to each your lunch at KITCHEN, or you can take it back to the office or across the street to the park.

KITCHEN and Brad Smoliak are hitting Highway 16 East again, but this time we’re hosting and cooking an Ukrainian inspired Long Table Dinner at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village.
Join Brad at the Ukrainian Village on Friday, July 15, 2016 for a long table dinner complete with cooking demonstrations and an after-hours, interactive tour of one of Alberta’s best living history museums.
The event starts promptly at 5:00pm, so you must be on site at 4:45pm. The Ukrainian Village is approximately 30 minutes east of Edmonton (but with city and highway construction, make sure you give yourself up to 60 minutes to get there. More details on what you need to know about the Village can be found below).
Tickets for this dinner are $170 per person plus GST, which includes:
- an Ukrainian inspired dinner prepared on site by Chef Brad
- cooking demonstrations with Chef Brad
- a glass of wine served with dinner
- interactive, after hours tour of the Ukrainian Village
- horse-drawn wagon ride
- bag of Red Fife flour and a handmade napkin ring to take home

Preparing for your long table dinner at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village
The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) is located 30 minutes east of Edmonton along Highway 16, just 3 km east of Elk Island National Park. (During summer months, please allow up to 60 minutes travel time due to construction work on Highway #16.) For detailed location information, please see their website.
The UCHV is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Labour Day, and you are welcome to visit this award-winning living-history museum at your leisure earlier in the day.
Upon arrival at the UCHV, please stop at the Admissions Booth and indicate you are arriving for the long table dinner. From there, park in the main parking lot and proceed to the main Visitor Centre. The pre-dinner program will begin at the Visitor Centre at 5 p.m.
At the Village, you will be stepping back in time into a rural outdoor setting, we recommend all guests prepare by wearing/bringing the following:
- Good walking shoes for our gravel roads and paths. There will be some walking involved in the pre-dinner program, as well as a walk back to parking at the end of the evening.
- Sun protection and bug spray. During the beginning of the program guests will likely be enjoying some lovely late day sunshine, and as the sun goes down some mosquitoes may be out.
- Jacket or sweater. As the sun goes down, this will help you remain comfortable in the cooler evening.
Who’s ready for a little KITCHEN time with Butcher Corey Meyer of ACME Meat Market and Chef Brad Smoliak?
In this cooking class, Corey Meyer will share his insider secrets on meat cuts, what to grill and how to get the most out of your BBQ this summer. Chef Brad will share his techniques and how-to’s on marinades, mops and sauces for different types and cuts of meat. Together, we’ll help you raise the bar on your grilling this season. To top it off, you’ll enjoy beverages from Alley Kat Brewery in Edmonton and Red Cup Distillery from Vegreville.

Tickets for this class are $135 per person plus GST, which includes tasting all of the food and beverages. And you get to take home the recipes. These spots go quickly and each class runs 3 to 3.5 hours.
