September has been a crazy fun month with lots of interesting things happening. We’ve been a vendor at the City Market Downtown farmers’ market on 104th Street, selling bacon jam and other KITCHEN products. We will be back at the market the Saturday of the Thanksgiving weekend. We hope to see you there!
We also finished ramping up bacon jam production at Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development’s Leduc Food Processing Development Centre, which is a world class facility that is putting Alberta on the map as a food manufacturing center.
So now that Bacon Jam is available at Save-on-Foods across Western Canada in the Deli or Local section (available in Edmonton and area now, and in all other stores following the Thanksgiving weekend), ACME Meat Market on 76 Avenue and 96 Street, Cavern on 104th Street, and the West end Italian Centre Shop in Edmonton, what do you do with it? Here’s a few ideas on how to use Bacon Jam and get your culinary creativity going.
Just remember this: bacon jam is a condiment that is great on its own or with cheese, but is best when you mix it into other dishes and with other ingredients. No matter how you use it, you’ll bacony goodness to any dish!
Brad’s Top 10 Ways to use Bacon Jam
Add it to a grilled cheese sandwich
Mix into a burger – add it to your ground beef, and/or spread it on your bun
Add into scrambled eggs as they cook, and make it extra healthy by tossing in some spinach
Pan-fried mushrooms with Bacon Jam stirred in
Mashed potatoes – add some Bacon Jam just after you whip
Mix Bacon Jam with linguine and fresh chopped tomatoes
Mix it into bison meatballs or meat loaf
Combine Bacon Jam with butter to make Bacon butter, and put a pat on top of a grilled steak
Add it to your gravy for thanksgiving dinner

I just eat it by the spoonful straight out of the jar :)
You have to try mixing it 1:1 with mayonnaise for a Bacon Jam Aoli. This aoli is a very tasty “secret sauce” on a burger or for dipping the fries/sweet potato fries sitting beside it!

I like to add it to our calzones. It gives it a bit of a kick. So good.
