Our Team

Chef Brad Smoliak

Hi, I am Brad and thanks for your interest in joining me in at KITCHEN. I am the man in the apron as well as the founder of KITCHEN.

Before starting KITCHEN, I was one of the executive chefs and founders of Edmonton’s iconic Hardware Grill. I also had the chance to serve as the Executive Chef for the Royal Mayfair Golf & Country Club and Normand’s Restaurant, after earning my chops as a Kitchen Leader at Earl’s Restaurant.

An athlete I am not, so going to the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010 as the lead chef for Alberta house and the London Summer Olympics in 2012 as the lead chef for Canada House were lifetime thrills. And while every guest is special, I was truly honoured to cook for Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Edmonton in 2005.

In my spare time, I am a Research Chef, helping companies like Little Potato Company, Nestle and Kitchen Partners develop new food products. You can sometimes catch me on television cooking up a storm with local TV hosts, and I like to think I can help you step up your BBQ game with my cookbook, “The Canadian Barbecue Cookbook”.

I look forward to hosting you at KITCHEN soon.

Chef Tracy Zizek

Welcome to KITCHEN. You’ll usually find me in the back of the house, working alongside Brad to ensure your meal and party (and cake!) is memorable. But I enjoy teaching a cooking class or sharing food and wine tips and tricks with KITCHEN guests.

I’ve been cooking in the Edmonton culinary scene for nearly 20 years. After graduating from NAIT’s Culinary Arts program, I started as the Pastry Apprentice at Café de Ville in 2000 and worked my way through the kitchen to become Executive Chef of the 124th Street location.

Currently, I serve as the Chair of “Indulgence, A Canadian  Epic of Food and Wine”. It’s one of Edmonton’s longest running and finest food and wine events, and I’ve been fortunate to have been a volunteer for the past ten years. In my spare time, I’ve achieved my level three certification with Wine and Spirit Education Trust, and I enjoy making confections and learning more about how our food is produced.

When you arrive at KITCHEN, chances are you will be greeted by me with a glass of prosecco poured and ready just for you.

During any KITCHEN party or event, it’s my job to make sure our KITCHEN feels as comfortable as your own (minus the prep, work and clean up). I am happy to share my knowledge of the sights and sounds of Edmonton with our KITCHEN friends. I moved to this city in 2001 and fell in love with the sunshine, white Christmas’ and Edmonton’s food and arts scene. I am proud to be KITCHEN’s first employee and that in five years I’ve only broken seven dishes.

I learned how to make a full roast beef dinner simply by pouring wine for guests attending one of our cooking classes. I promise an exceptional time in our KITCHEN while you eat, be merry and learn a thing or two to take back to your own kitchen.
